Overview
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Cardiac, Vascular or “dual” Sonographer to join our outpatient cardiovascular practice. Though sonographers with experience in cardiac and vascular scanning is preferred, consideration to dedicated cardiac and vascular sonographers would be given. In this role, you will perform a broad range of echocardiographic and vascular ultrasound studies supporting our cardiologists in the diagnosis and management of cardiac and vascular disease. Echocardiography
- Perform complete 2D, M-mode, and Doppler (pulsed, continuous wave, color flow, 3D, GLS) transthoracic echocardiograms (TTE)
- Acquire and optimize images of all cardiac structures including valves, chambers, wall motion, and pericardium
- Perform stress echocardiography (exercise and pharmacologic/dobutamine) in coordination with the cardiologist
- Assist with or perform transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) as credentialed
- Calculate standard echo measurements: EF, wall motion score, diastolic function parameters, valve gradients and areas
- Process and submit images through echo reporting software for physician interpretation
Vascular Ultrasound
- Perform arterial and venous duplex studies of the carotid, peripheral arterial, and venous systems
- Conduct lower and upper extremity arterial studies including ABI/PVR waveform analysis
- Perform bilateral carotid duplex imaging with velocity measurements and plaque characterization
- Complete renal artery, aortic, and mesenteric duplex studies as needed
- Identify and document pathology including stenosis, occlusion, DVT, reflux, and aneurysm
Patient Care & Operations
- Prepare patients for procedures, explain the process clearly, and ensure comfort throughout
- Maintain accurate procedure documentation and image archiving in PACS/EMR
- Perform equipment quality checks and routine maintenance on ultrasound systems
- Collaborate with cardiologists, nurses, and front office staff to ensure smooth patient flow
- Maintain compliance with ACR, ASE, SVU, and IAC accreditation standards
Qualifications
Required
- RDCS (Adult Echocardiography) credential from ARDMS, or CCI equivalent (RCS/RCCS)
- RVT or RVS credential (ARDMS or CCI) for vascular studies
- BLS/CPR certification
- Minimum 1 year of clinical experience in echocardiography and/or vascular ultrasound
- Strong technical image acquisition skills across a range of body types
Preferred
- Experience in both cardiac and vascular ultrasound in a cardiology or cardiovascular setting
- Familiarity with IAC accreditation standards for echo and vascular labs
- Experience with vascular reporting and echo software platforms
- FASE designation or advanced cardiac imaging experience a plus
