General Cardiologist

Location

Rapid City, SD | Full-Time | No Call / No Weekends / No Holidays

Overview

Black Hills Heart and Vascular Institute, a premier private cardiology and vascular medicine group in Rapid City, SD, is seeking a board-certified General Cardiologist to join our growing team.

You will provide comprehensive outpatient cardiovascular care across our main campus and regional outreach clinics — from diagnostic workups and echocardiography to preventive cardiology and chronic disease management. This is a rare opportunity to practice in a 100% physician-led environment where clinical decisions stay in the hands of physicians, not hospital administrators. Enjoy professional autonomy, a defined track to practice ownership, and an exceptional quality of life that values work-life balance and clinical excellence.

Why You’ll Love This Job

  • Pure Outpatient & No Call: Benefit from a fully outpatient cardiology and vascular practice with a sustainable, predictable schedule and defined clinic hours — no overnight call, no weekends, and no hospital rounding.
  • Partnership Within 2 Years: Step onto a transparent, defined pathway to equity ownership in one of the region’s most valuable independent practices, including a stake in our private ambulatory procedure center.
  • Rapidly Expanding Regional Reach: Help extend access to care across 3 current regional outreach sites (expanding to 5 within 2 years), with immediate infrastructure and referral support from day one.
  • True Physician Autonomy: Work alongside a collaborative team in the only independent, physician-owned cardiovascular group in the Rapid City region.
  • Exclusive Perks & Benefits: Enjoy a competitive base salary with a productivity bonus alongside unique access to a practice-owned multi-engine aircraft for effortless regional travel or weekend escapes.
  • Exceptional Quality of Life: Experience the beautiful Black Hills of South Dakota with world-class outdoor recreation, low cost of living, a climate similar to Denver’s, and no state income tax.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct outpatient cardiology clinic evaluations.
  • Provide clinical care and consultation at regional outreach clinics.
  • Perform and interpret echocardiography, stress testing, and Holter / event monitors.
  • Manage preventive cardiology, heart failure, valve disease, and lipid disorders.
  • Collaborate closely with our interventional and electrophysiology specialists.

Qualifications

  • Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree.
  • Board Certified (BC) or Board Eligible (BE) in Cardiology.
  • South Dakota medical licensure (or eligible to obtain).
  • Strong echocardiography skills preferred.
  • Collaborative, team-oriented mindset.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive base salary + productivity bonus structure.
  • Partnership track within 2 years (including procedure center equity).
  • Access to practice-owned multi-engine aircraft.
  • Full health benefits package.
  • Retirement plan and Continuing Medical Education (CME) allowance.
